RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The rise of ghost kitchens in Reno has sparked curiosity and concern among residents and health officials.
Kristen Debraga, senior environmental health specialist with Northern Nevada Public Health, explained that ghost kitchens are operations where a restaurant owner uses delivery apps like DoorDash to offer different menu items than their usual offerings.
“A ghost kitchen is basically when a kitchen and a lot of times it’s the same restaurant owner, they’ll operate on like the DoorDash and similar apps, just offering maybe different menu items than they would normally offer,” said Debraga.
