TRUCKEE, Calif. — High schools within the Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) will not be switching athletic leagues this upcoming school year after the education board voted Wednesday to delay the switch by one year.
The TTUSD has decided to delay switching its high school sports teams from the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) until the 2026-2027 schoolyear.
The decision comes after two Board of Education meetings that brought an outpouring of community feedback, much of which was against the switch, citing concerns over how it will impact athletics schedules and safety concerns for teams that would need to drive over Donner Pass during the winter to compete with other California teams…
