Proposed rezoning for site near Plumas, Mt. Rose streets moves to city council for vote

RENO, Nev. — A rezoning proposal is moving forward despite the Reno Planning Commission failing to approve a recommendation for it Thursday.

The proposal to rezone a roughly one-acre site near Mount Rose and Plumas streets is now in the hands of the Reno City Council after the planning commission heard and ultimately rejected the plans at its meeting due to a technical denial because of a tie vote.

The site would be reclassified from its current zone, which is Mixed Neighborhood, to Suburban Mixed Use, allowing for the construction of multi-unit complexes where there is currently a 14-unit-per-acre limit…
