Sparks officials say pair of fires started by propane torches

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) – Fire crews with the City of Sparks say a pair of fires were started this week by propane powered torches that were being used to burn weeds.

The city is now saying that all open burning, including the use of torches, is prohibited within the limits of Sparks.

“Using propane-powered torches to burn weeds is illegal and dangerous,” said Fire Chief Walt White. “As fuels dry out this summer, we want to remind our residents that fire danger is high. We are also experiencing many red flag warning days that can quickly spread fires.”…
