Roy Foster, owner of 10 Jimboy’s Tacos restaurants in the Greater Sacramento region, is expanding his restaurant footprint in Northern Nevada with the opening of a second Slim Chickens location in south Reno.
Foster opened the area’s first Slim Chickens at the corners of Los Altos and Galleria parkways in June 2023. The second location at 1085 Steamboat Parkway is slated to open July 21. Foster told NNBW he considered multiple locations throughout Reno and Sparks for the original location, with rooftops guiding the brand’s ultimate destination.
“Our intent was to come into the market and see what we could do,” Foster said. “We looked all over – south Reno, the downtown area – but we thought Sparks would be a good spot to get started. Housing is growing in the area, and that’s what we really focus on. We thought the brand would do well…
