Carson City has issued a warning to residents about a scam involving emails with falsified documents and deceptive invoices designed to defraud them. Scammers are posing as city staff, attaching fraudulent invoices, and urging residents to wire funds to a bank account under the pretense of legitimate transactions.
Community development director Hope Sullivan emphasized, “We will never ask anyone to wire funds to an account. The invoices are fraudulent. If you are uncertain as to the legitimacy of an invoice, please call the office at 775-887-2180.”…
