RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The City of Reno has announced it plans to lay off eight employees.
In a statement to KOLO 8 News Now, the city says it is facing significant financial difficulties due to slowing revenue growth at the state and local levels, as well as rising operating costs.
The city says they have addressed a $25 million gap in the fiscal year 2026 General Fund through vacancy holds, one-time savings, and operational efficiencies. They say they face similar challenges for the fiscal year 2027, and that delaying actions would risk greater impacts to essential services, such as public safety, later this year…
