Reno fire officials urge heat safety as triple-digit temperatures loom

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A dangerous heatwave is moving into northern Nevada, and emergency officials are warning residents to take extra precautions as temperatures are expected to reach the triple digits this weekend and into next week.

The Reno Fire Department held a media briefing Friday to emphasize the importance of heat safety and offer practical tips to avoid heat-related illnesses. Officials say the hottest part of the day will be between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and residents should avoid strenuous outdoor activity during those hours whenever possible.
