The National Weather Service in Reno has upgraded a Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning for the Northern Sierra Front, including Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Southern Washoe, Western Lyon, and far southern Lassen counties. The warning is in effect from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday.
The warning highlights the potential for gusty west-southwest winds ranging from 15 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Humidity levels are expected to drop to between 12 and 16%, creating conditions conducive to rapid fire growth.
