‘Not scared of my mother anymore’: Woman who locked teenage son in small room for more than a year with only a bucket to use as a bathroom receives fate

A Nevada mother who locked up her son for over a year in a small room stocked with only a bucket to use as a bathroom is headed to prison.

Tammy Hinds was sentenced to between two and five years in prison, according to the Storey County District Court. Hinds pleaded guilty to principal to child neglect in April.

Hinds, then 34, was arrested along with her mother, Nancy Hinds, in May 2024 after cops conducting a welfare check at a home in the area of Tunnel Road in Gold Hill found the then-14-year-old boy locked in a small room. The boy was in need of medical attention…
