Around the office, we’ve discussed what the first concert at Grand Sierra Resort Arena will be when it opens, which is scheduled for fall 2027.
Getting bigger concerts in Northern Nevada was a huge selling point from the GSR when it asked for public money this spring in the form of property-tax abatements. Those abatements were eventually approved for the $435 million arena, which is expected to hold around 10,500 fans, which will make it Reno’s largest venue outside of Lawlor Events Center, which is no longer in the concert business.
Currently, the top local draws from a venue standpoint include the Reno Events Center (7,000 capacity), outdoor Nugget Event Center (8,500 capacity), Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena (9,300 capacity), GSR’s Grand Theatre (2,900 capacity), Silver Legacy Grand Exposition Hall (2,000 capacity) and Tahoe Blue Event Center (5,000 capacity)…
