One of the eight students indicted by a grand jury was minutes from turning 18 when the vandalism at Reno High School happened and should have been charged as a juvenile, Washoe County’s district attorney and school district said Friday.
“Today, it was brought to our attention that a mistake was made in charging a juvenile as an adult in the vandalism case involving Reno High School,” the statement said, hours after the RGJ inquired about a tip that the student was 17 at the time.
