Starlite Express Car Wash takes over old bowling alley

First impressions are everything, and Troy Blair wasn’t scared off when he first entered the shuttered Starlite Lanes bowling alley on Stardust Street in Reno.

Blair, Truckee-based partner with carwash developer Tunnel Vision, was able to look past the mass of debris left by removal of the bowling lanes and damage from squatters who ripped out the building’s copping piping while it sat vacant for the better part of seven years. Asbestos abatement also left its mark on the interior of the building constructed in 1963.

Despite the detritus, Blair envisioned a fully indoor car wash where customers could clean their cars without dealing with Reno’s blistering summertime heat and frigid winter weather…
