Bike thefts surge in Incline Village, residents urged to take precautions

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an increase in bike and E-Bike thefts in the Incline Village area. Since June 20, there have been four reported theft cases, including two incidents where E-Bikes were securely locked but had their locks cut at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office is advising community members to take several proactive measures to prevent theft. They recommend recording your E-Bike’s serial number and storing it safely, taking clear photos of your bike for identification purposes, and keeping your bike out of public view when at home. If your bike is visible, they suggest covering it to reduce visibility and deter theft. Additionally, they emphasize the importance of always securing your bike with a high-quality lock.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 775-785-9276. The three separate cases are part of ongoing investigations, and anyone with information is urged to contact Deputy Scott Butler at 775-895-3666…
