A Nevada man is in custody following what appeared to be a homicide early Friday at a remote campsite in Sierra County, California, north of Lake Tahoe.
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that during the early morning hours of August 8, they “received information regarding a possible deceased individual at a dispersed campsite south of the Sierra Brooks community.”
Deputies arrived at the campsite and found a dead woman and “an incoherent male” at the scene, but they’ve provided no further details about the circumstances of the woman’s death. The sheriff’s office did say that “due to the suspicious circumstances,” they called in the California Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Science as well as detectives from the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the investigation…
