Lawsuit Over Alleged Abuse at Local Senior Living Facility Raises Concerns Over Elder Protection

A lawsuit has been filed alleging the Cascades of the Sierra senior living facility in Spanish Springs failed to protect an 84-year-old with dementia living there, identified in court documents as D.S. Doe.

The complaint alleges another resident, a 92-year-old, who has since died, identified as Resident 22, sexually assaulted Doe while she stayed in the memory care unit where doors remained unlocked, and did so even though staff and management were allegedly aware of prior sexual misconduct against her and others.

The lawsuit claims he would even grab staff members’ breasts and that the residential facility administrator was informed about such behavior but did nothing to stop it and moved him to the memory care unit despite even greater dangers there…
