The city of Reno, in collaboration with the Reno Police Department and the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, has announced the installation of a new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) on West 7th Street, east of McCarran Boulevard.
This initiative aims to enhance pedestrian safety on a high-risk corridor characterized by heavy vehicle traffic, high speeds, and a lane merge.
The PHB is designed to improve pedestrian safety by displaying a sequence of flashing yellow, solid yellow, and solid red lights to alert drivers to slow down and stop, allowing pedestrians to cross safely.
