Gunfire at Spanish Springs park spurs increase in enforcement

SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. (KOLO) – In response to an increase in reports of people discharging firearms in and around Golden Eagle Regional Park in Spanish Springs, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WSCO) is increasing patrols and enforcement efforts in this area.

“This behavior is illegal and poses serious risks to everyone especially families, children, park visitors, and neighbors,” according to a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Nevada law prohibits discharging shotguns, air rifles, BB guns or similar weapons within 1000 feet of any dwelling, and 5,000 feet for pistols, rifles or other firearms…
