Washoe County allows taller buildings, increased density in Incline Village, Crystal Bay

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Washoe County commissioners voted 3-1 on Tuesday to allow taller buildings and increased density in the county’s portion of the Lake Tahoe basin, including Incline Village and Crystal Bay.

The controversial vote came after dozens of North Lake Tahoe locals urged them in public comment to reject the proposed changes from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. One commenter even presented a petition they said had been signed by over 260 residents.

“I think it’ll change the character and the integrity of Incline Village and Crystal Bay. It’ll make for more population than we already have and it’ll create more traffic and more pollution and degrade the lake, which already has enough problems,” said Incline Village resident Kristina Hill…
