Reno, Nevada – Afternoon thunderstorms could return to much of western Nevada starting Tuesday, with the eastern Sierra once again in the bullseye for showers and lightning through midweek. The storm pattern, already active in higher elevations, is expected to ease slightly Sunday before building back up after a brief Monday lull.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, isolated thunderstorms will continue today and Sunday across Mono and Alpine counties, with storm activity focused through the Tahoe Basin. Monday is expected to be the warmest and driest day regionwide, with highs reaching into the 90s in Reno and low 80s in Mammoth and Truckee.
