Gun sales halted in Nevada, background check system down under state cyberattack

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Guns cannot be legally sold and transferred to Nevadans without a concealed carry permit currently as the cyberattack that occurred last month has crippled the state’s background check system.

According to a state memo sent to firearms dealers Thursday, the state’s Brady Point of Contact Firearms program cannot process any firearm transfer background checks.

Though the background checks are done federally, the state is still required to process background checks and has been unable to do so since the cyberattack on Aug. 24…
