Northern Nevada Lake Advisory: Hazardous Waves on Tahoe and Pyramid Lake Until 11 p.m. Monday

Reno, Nev. – Boaters and beachgoers at Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake are being urged to stay cautious today as gusty winds churn up dangerous conditions through 11 p.m. Monday. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph, driving waves up to three feet and creating a risk for small watercraft.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect for both lakes, warning of rough waters and challenging boating conditions. Officials caution that small boats, kayaks, and paddleboards are especially vulnerable to capsizing in the choppy waves.

The strongest winds are expected along western shores and open water, where large waves can build quickly. Visitors should secure loose items on docks, avoid long crossings in small vessels, and wear life jackets if venturing out…
