Sparks Boulevard Project enters second phase with $86 million investment

SPARKS, Nev. — The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, in collaboration with the City of Sparks and the Nevada Department of Transportation, has commenced the second phase of the Sparks Boulevard Project. This phase extends from the I-80 westbound ramps to Baring Boulevard, with additional improvements reaching Shadow Lane. The project, valued at approximately $86 million, is expected to be completed by mid-2027 and is funded through a mix of federal grants and local sources.

The initiative aims to enhance roadway capacity by constructing a six-lane facility, featuring three lanes in each direction. It will also improve intersection operations to boost safety, add sidewalks, enhance the pedestrian multi-use path, construct barrier rail, incorporate sound walls at select locations, and upgrade drainage systems for a more robust infrastructure…
