RENO, Nev. — On September 16, 2025, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered a stolen vehicle during routine patrols in Spanish Springs. The vehicle, driven by 64-year-old Brett Cunningham, was reported stolen on September 5 and belonged to an elderly woman from Sparks who was unable to drive due to a medical condition.
Deputies contacted the vehicle’s registered owner at her home and transported her to the location of the vehicle to verify ownership and check for any missing property. After confirming ownership, deputies drove the vehicle, with the owner as a passenger, back to her residence.
Cunningham was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility. He faces charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a felony, along with a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear in Sparks Justice Court and a felony warrant from Eldorado County, California, for embezzlement and theft from an elderly person…
