Man with gun inside case prompts two temporary school lockdowns in Reno

Lockdowns are now lifted at Pine Middle and Smithridge Elementary schools after nearby police activity.

Reno Police say they were called to the Neil Road area just after 8 a.m. on the report of a suspicious person armed with a gun. As a precaution, the schools were put on lockdown.

Officers searched the area and found a man who was detained – and later released after they determined no crime had occurred. Police say the original caller didn’t initially recognize the man as a tenant…
