SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The debate over how to best design a flood management project and large regional park along the Truckee River is escalating ahead of an expected decision on the matter next month.
The Truckee River Flood Management Authority board is scheduled in October to choose between a mostly nature park and a primary recreational facility with 11 flat fields for soccer, lacrosse or other sports.
While most public commenters have supported the flat field proposal, citing a large deficit of flat fields in the region, Sparks Mayor Ed Lawson has started raising concerns with the possible cost and timeline of that option…
