What started as a routine traffic stop turned into a major bust for Carson City deputies Friday night. Four juveniles are now in custody after being found with untraceable semi-automatic pistols — and they may be linked to a series of vandalism incidents that have plagued the community for weeks.
According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, members of the department’s Special Enforcement Unit pulled over a car near North Carson Street by I-580 on the evening of October 3. Inside were four juveniles — and, according to deputies, three illegal firearms: two 9mm pistols and one .45 caliber pistol. None of the weapons had serial numbers.
Investigators say the vehicle matched the description of one seen near several vandalism sites around Carson City, including NV Energy on Long Street and John Mankins Park on Oak Ridge Drive.
