Von Bismarck, one of Reno’s few German restaurants, will permanently close on Oct. 26. Owner T. Duncan Mitchell announced the closure on social media, expressing mixed emotions but emphasizing the decision was right for his family.
“I thought I would be able to spend more time with my wife and sons but the opposite turned out to be true,” he said. Mitchell thanked his staff and patrons for their support over the years, adding, “So many amazing people have made VB what it is and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

A new restaurant will eventually open at the current location, 805 S Wells Ave., with Mitchell noting, “The people taking over the location are extremely nice and amazing people.”…
