TMRPA Governing Board reverses planning commission’s appeal of StoneGate amendment

RENO, Nev. — A massive industrial development is plowing ahead in Cold Springs following the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Governing Board’s vote to reverse the Regional Planning Commission’s (RPC) determination of nonconformance with the 2019 Truckee Meadows Regional Plan.

“I am going to say here that the RPC overstepped what the rules are. So, we do not apply what happens at our local jurisdictions as far as policy and code up here at regional planning,” Chair of the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Governing Board Dian Vanderwell said.

The StoneGate Heinz Ranch has been the subject of proposed development for almost a decade now, with the initial proposal aiming to address housing needs by creating up to 5,000 homes on the site…
