LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A bicyclist was killed on Saturday, Oct. 4, when a car traveling in the opposite direction came across the center line and two travel lanes into the bicycle lane on a popular cycling route south of Reno.
Susan Mae Goodenow, 62, died at the scene. Her husband, Rew Goodenow, was thrown from his bicycle in the collision and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was not identified in a news release from the Nevada Highway Patrol, but the Reno Gazette Journal said he was a former president of the State Bar of Nevada (2006-07) and currently an attorney with Parsons Behle & Latimer.
The driver of the vehicle, a 1995 Subaru Legacy, was not named by authorities. After the collision, the car spun to a stop on the road, US395 Alternate near mile marker 11. It’s the old highway between Reno and Carson City. The driver was headed northbound toward Reno and the cyclists were southbound when the crash occurred at about 9 a.m…
