A months-long narcotics investigation ended this week with the arrest of two suspects in Reno and the seizure of nearly 900 grams of fentanyl, worth an estimated $176,000 on the street.
Detectives with the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU) arrested 28-year-old Abel Rivas-Diaz and 31-year-old Monica Gasca on Tuesday after a traffic stop near Interstate 80 and Robb Drive. With help from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, investigators found about 685 grams of fentanyl and two firearms inside the suspects’ vehicle.
A follow-up search at a residence near Greenbrae Drive and Sullivan Lane uncovered another 200 grams of fentanyl, bringing the total amount seized to 884.92 grams — enough for roughly 442,000 potentially lethal doses, according to investigators…
