UNR police urge students to lock up as bike and scooter thefts climb on campus

The University of Nevada, Reno Police Department (UNRPD) is reminding students to take extra precautions to keep their bikes and scooters secure after a rise in thefts on campus.

According to the department in an online Facebook post, bike and scooter thefts have cost students more than $20,000 this semester.

UNR police urged students to use a U-bolt lock, register their rides, utilize the Bike Room in residence halls, and avoid leaving bikes or scooters overnight…
