On October 24, 2025, the Nevada Tech Hub, led by the University of Nevada, announced more than $15.5 million in funding for 17 projects. These projects aim to support Nevada’s role in the national lithium battery and critical materials supply chain. The funding is part of a plan to improve the lithium battery sector, including workforce development, education, innovation, and domestic supply chain research. The goal is to reduce dependence on foreign supply chains and support Nevada’s energy sector.
Dick Bartholet, regional innovation officer for Nevada Tech Hub, said the team worked with industry leaders over the past year to identify needs in workforce development and other business areas. Bartholet stated that the selected projects and partnerships are expected to support Nevada’s lithium and critical minerals economy and help create a more reliable domestic supply chain.
Nevada Tech Hub is one of 31 Tech Hubs recognized by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for work in technology sectors.
