Former Carson City deputy public defender receives max prison sentence for lewdness

A former deputy public defender for Carson City is heading to state prison for 8 to 20 years and must pay $1,320 in restitution after pleading no contest to two counts of lewdness with a child under 16.

On Friday, Adam Lawson Woodrum, 47, was sentenced by Ninth Judicial District Court Judge Thomas Gregory, who presided over the case in Carson City’s First Judicial District Court.

“The court is mindful that the defendant had training and experience as a criminal attorney, both prosecution and defense, and well understood these types of cases, the impact of these types of cases, and the law’s view of those cases and society’s views of those cases,” Gregory said…
