A major drug trafficking investigation spanning several months concluded on Halloween, October 31, with the arrest of a Sparks resident and the seizure of significant quantities of illegal narcotics.
The Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU), assisted by the Reno Police Department K9 Unit, arrested Jose Maria Ramirez-Huerta, 23, during a traffic stop in northwest Reno , detectives say they found approximately 1,014 grams (over two pounds) of heroin inside Ramirez-Huerta’s vehicle.
Following the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at Ramirez-Huerta’s residence near Pyramid Way and D Street in Sparks. According to police, that search yielded an additional 294 grams of heroin and nearly 20 grams of methamphetamine.
