A volunteer at the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza at the Sparks Marina is in critical condition after being pushed to the ground, kicked and hit in the head multiple times with a jagged rock around 1 p.m. Monday, according to the Sparks Police Department.
Michael Hess, 65, of Sparks, suffered multiple skull fractures, police said.
