Dave & Buster’s encouraging kids to bring skills from the classroom to the arcade

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Dave & Buster’s is launching a program called “Play Academy” to bring student’s learning from the classroom, and into the arcade.

The goal of the program is to partner with local schools and their curriculum for physics, critical thinking, strategy, and math, and allow students to apply those skills in real world situations. According to Dave and Buster’s staff, millions of STEM jobs are projected to go unfilled by 2025, not from lack of interest, but from limited access to early, hands-on STEM education.

Students engage in interactive labs focused on Strategy and Engineering, Physics, Finance and Mathematics, and Health and Biology. They get to apply lessons through playing popular arcade games like Skeeball and racing simulators…
