Reno airport will experience ripple effect from flight reductions at top 40 airports

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is expecting to experience a ripple effect after the Federal Aviation Administration directed airlines at the country’s largest airports to reduce flight schedules beginning Friday, Nov. 7, according to an agency Facebook post on Thursday, Nov. 6.

“The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is aware of the FAA’s directive for all airlines to reduce flight schedules by 10% beginning Friday, Nov. 7, with the reductions expected to continue through the duration of the federal government shutdown,” an airport news release said.

The reductions are concentrated at the country’s 40 largest airports. Reno-Tahoe International Airport will experience ripple effects since many routes connect to those markets.

“We are closely coordinating with the FAA, Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and our airline partners to minimize disruptions and maintain safe, secure and reliable operations,” the release said…
