Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) reported the first case of Hantavirus in Lyon County for 2025.
The case is a man who is over 50 years of age. Authorities say this is the first case of Hantavirus reported in Lyon County and the third case in the Carson, Douglas and Lyon County area in 2025.
CCHS officials say the suspected exposure was from inhalation or direct contact with rodent droppings, urine, or nesting material disturbed during household cleaning in the weeks prior to symptom development. The investigation is ongoing…
