Local University of Nevada, Reno Engineering Students Selected for Prestigious Apple Mentorship Program

Ten engineering students from the University of Nevada, Reno have been selected for the 2025–2026 Apple Mentorship Program. This national program connects undergraduates with Apple engineers and industry professionals. It offers mentorship and career development opportunities. The University of Nevada, Reno is one of 22 institutions in the United States chosen to participate this year. The program began in October 2025 and will run through May 2026.

The Apple Mentorship Program pairs students with mentors from Apple. Participants explore technical fields, discuss career options, and develop professional and leadership skills. Candice Bauer, director of undergraduate programs in the College of Engineering, said these partnerships help students connect classroom learning with practical experience.

The selected students come from various backgrounds and disciplines. Zeed Almelhem, a sophomore in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from Syria, noted the value of mentorship based on his experience with a student startup in Jordan. Kevin Valadez Marquez, a junior in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Reno, said attending Stanford’s Hot Chips conference motivated him to become more involved in the industry…
