A 45-year-old man died after a big rig crash early Sunday near the Nevada state line, authorities said.
The man was driving a 2020 International along westbound Interstate 80 at 1:20 a.m. at an unknown speed when he drifted onto the right shoulder, crashed into a guardrail and descended into a dirt embankment, causing the cab to overturn on its roof, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The trailer of the big rig was partially suspended above the embankment while obstructing the rightmost lane of I-80.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, officials said…
