Smart bears remain in Carson due to food sources

A bear trap set in west Carson City the last week and a half has failed to catch a mother black bear and two cubs seen around Mountain Street since mid-October.

The bears are too smart, according to Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesperson Ashley Zeme.

Biologists are removing the trap, and there are no current plans to move the bears. Officials hope to educate people to secure attractants so the bears will return to the mountains. People leaving unsecured garbage, food or fallen tree fruit are not helping the bears, NDOW maintains…
