A Reno man is facing serious charges after a detailed criminal complaint alleges he abducted an intoxicated woman from downtown, restrained her with zip ties, and only stopped when a bystander intervened.
According to court documents filed in Reno Justice Court Wednesday, 35-year-old Diego Ortega Noria is accused of kidnapping the woman outside the West 2nd Street Bar around 4 a.m. on November 16. Investigators wrote that the woman had been drinking earlier in the night with her boyfriend, but the two separated inside the bar.
Surveillance referenced in the court filing shows the woman stumbling along East 2nd Street before Ortega Noria approaches her, according to detectives. The documents say he is seen placing his arm around her and guiding her toward his black GMC Sierra pickup, which then leaves the area.
The victim later told police she remembered being inside a truck, on her knees in the back seat, and screaming for help, according to the affidavit.
