RENO, Nev. — The proposed rezoning and development at the Lakeridge Golf Course site is moving forward after the Reno Planning Commission voted Thursday night to advance the rezoning map and Master Plan amendments with a condition of approval to address traffic concerns.
The major redevelopment proposal would include a restaurant, a spa and hotel, event space and recreational areas. Since it was first introduced more than a year ago, many residents who live near the site have come out in strong opposition to the plan, even filing appeals with the city and holding a rally ahead of Thursday’s planning commission meeting.
“It’s in the middle of a planned community of houses and condos, and [the developer] wants to put in a four-story hotel, an outdoor amphitheater, all kinds of things and ruin the quiet. We need to keep our open space or we’re going to have a lot of problems with what’s in the air. So open space is very important,” one resident of the Lakeridge neighborhood, Karen Claffey, said…
