NDOW Board of Commissioners votes in favor of regulating coyote contests

RENO, Nev. — Coyote contests could soon be a state-sanctioned activity in Nevada after the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) Board of Wildlife Commissioners voted six-to-three in favor of regulating the controversial competitions.

The vote comes about a year since Humane World For Animals (formerly the Humane Society of the U.S.) released polling data that revealed a 71% majority in favor of banning the contests out of roughly 800 Nevadans polled. Since then, NDOW has hosted several public meetings across the state to gather information and ultimately decide what to do about the contests.
