Preservation Manager Sought for Tassi Ranch Rehabilitation Project at Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument

The Great Basin Institute (GBI), a non-profit organization founded in 1998 at the University of Nevada, Reno, is hiring a Preservation Manager for a conservation project at Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument (PARA). GBI is based in the eastern Sierra Nevada foothills and works on public land management projects. The new position is part of a partnership with PARA to manage the rehabilitation of Tassi Ranch, a site with ecological and historical value.

The Preservation Manager will lead efforts to improve accessibility and sustainability across about 9,000 square yards of landscape at Tassi Ranch. Tasks include trimming vegetation, replacing French drains with gravel-free alternatives, and building swales to direct groundwater away from historic structures. These actions aim to address groundwater intrusion that affects the site.

A key part of the project is the deconstruction and reconstruction of the Tassi Ranch shed. The Preservation Manager will supervise an AmeriCorps crew in dismantling, storing, and rebuilding the shed.
