Questions Surround Recent Arrest, Director’s Departure Ahead of Long Delayed County Homelessness Meeting

A screenshot was sent to us of a Mathew Grimsley booked on November 22nd on a third offense of a battery domestic violence charge with a $50,000 bond amount.

A Mat Grimsley is listed on the Karma Box Project team’s website as the safe camp supervisor, while his full name is used on social media pages related to that position. The Karma Box founder and executive director Grant Denton who receives a salary of $106,900 as director of the non profit according to the last available tax returns, was investigated and then cleared by the county in 2024 after accusations of improper conduct made by several women.

“He is not a county employee, so you’d have to confirm employment with the contractor,” Bethany Drysdale from the county’s communications team wrote back to Our Town Reno today after we asked about the recent Grimsley arrest…
