Carson City criminal sentencing report for November

Editor’s note: The Carson City District Attorney’s Office provides the Appeal with monthly sentencing reports for serious crimes when available.

On Nov. 10, Austin Bitisillie, a Carson City resident, appeared for sentencing on the charge of subsequent felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance, a category B felony. The defendant was convicted of driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.273 and was sentenced to 24 months to 60 months in the Nevada Department of Corrections.

On Nov. 4, Brandon Burke, a Carson City resident, appeared for sentencing on the charges of child abuse or neglect, first offense, a category B felony, and use of controlled substance in the presence of a child, a category C felony. The defendant was convicted of engaging in narcotic activity in front of a minor and keeping narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia in easily accessible locations within the home. The District Attorney’s Office argued for a sentence of 19 months to 48 months in the Nevada Department of Corrections; however, the court placed Burke on probation not to exceed 60 months with a suspended 12-month to 48-month sentence…
