Beefy’s calling for community support amid temporary closure

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Beefy’s in Midtown Reno is calling for community support, as the restaurant hopes to serve the community again. “It’s something that I have enjoyed. I love doing this. It is a big passion of mine. That one thing I missed the most is hanging out with people,” said Patrick Gallagher, Beefy’s Restaurant owner.

Gallagher has been the owner for the last three years. He is expressing his concerns, as the beloved Reno restaurant is forced to temporarily close its doors due to issues with plumbing, flooring and essential maintenance repairs. “Truckee Meadows and the Health Department require commercial buildings to have a backflow valve in their buildings. Considering this is a 1946 train car, it doesn’t have backflow valve in it.”

The building was originally home to the historic Landrum’s diner, built in 1947. Then Roy Brenner took over and changed the name to Beefy’s in 2014. Since then, the diner has been known for its fresh burgers and a place to bond over good food…
