Nevada Weather Alert Today: 60 MPH Wind Gusts Expected in Reno

Nevada starts the morning calm, but conditions will turn quickly as strong winds build across the Reno area. By evening, southwest winds roar through valleys and passes, whipping loose objects and making travel increasingly difficult.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. tonight through 4 p.m. Wednesday for western Nevada and nearby eastern California. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts reaching 45 to 50 mph. Wind-prone areas, including Washoe Valley and Pyramid Lake, could see gusts as high as 60 mph
